Pro-Life Ministry

The Life Chain Campaign is a peaceful and prayerful public witness of pro-life individuals standing for one hour praying for our nation and for an end to abortion. It is a visual statement of solidarity by the Christian community that abortion kills children and that the Church supports the sanctity of human life from the moment of conception until natural death.

The Life Chain Campaign event occurs on the first Sunday of October each year. Participants gather on the north side of US Hwy 90 from Haby’s Bakery to Mona’s Taco House – rain or shine. Families are welcome and encouraged to take part. Lawn chairs, umbrellas, hats, sunglasses, and water are welcome. Signs are provided. Members of the chain hold signs and pray silently for one hour. As you stand for the unborn, please space yourselves 25 – 30 feet apart along the route. Do not park in front of or block the driveway to any open business. Be quiet and always be courteous.

The 2011 Life Chain had about 55 – 60 participants on Sunday, October 2. Bertha Ricks from Calvary Community Church supplies all the signs, which are paid for by her church. The Life Chain Campaign Coordinator for St. Louis Church is Burnell Keller.

An additional public prayer service that is organized by Sara Castro is the Rosary on the Square, which is held during the second weekend of October.

Please watch for information in the Bulletin and for signs as the time for each prayer event draws near.
